Hi, I’m Sean, a photographer based in California, shaped by years on the road, in the ocean, and on the fireline.
For over a decade, I’ve been documenting environments and people that live at the edge of intensity. Wild surf, remote coastlines, active wildfire zones, and the quiet moments that exist just beyond them. My work began with travel and surf photography, spending years alongside professional surfers in places like Hawaii, Tahiti, Mexico, and Fiji. What started as a pursuit of motion and light gradually evolved into something more grounded: a focus on atmosphere, resilience, and the stories embedded in place.
From 2021 to 2024, I worked as a wildland firefighter, 3 of those years with the U.S. Forest Service. Experiencing fire from the inside fundamentally changed how I see landscapes, risk, and the people who move through them. That perspective now informs my long-term documentary work, particularly my ongoing book called Ashes Of Summer, which examines fire not just as destruction, but as a force that reshapes land, the people that fight them, the communities, and identity.
Alongside documentary projects, I photograph architecture, action sports, people, weddings, and commercial photography. Whether I’m shooting a remote break, a fire-scarred hillside, or a portrait, my approach remains the same: composing honest, natural images that reflect a moment in time.
I let the work speak for itself and focus on people, places, and moments that are meant to be documented.
Thanks for being here.
